The Tyson Twins Baby Shower

The Tysons Twins are scheduled to make their debut next month! I’m excited. My family is excited. My friends are excited. It’s just a lot of excitement going on, so it was only right to celebrate. Thanks to my mom and those she enlisted to help, we had such a beautiful and fun baby shower last week. The celebration filled my cup, made my day, and was such a great time for more reasons than one, so I had to share a recap with the glow getter gang, along with some tips for those for who might be planning or having a baby shower.

VENUE AND SAFETY

The celebration took place at La Vie, a Mediterranean restaurant in DC. We had their private Chandelier Room, which allowed for us to have an intimate experience. In light of the pandemic, we decided to go with a ladies only shower and kept the guest list intimate. Given the recent Covid-19 spikes, not only was mask wearing encouraged outside of eating, but guests were also required to take a Covid-19 test to ensure everyone’s safety.

Tip - Something that I share with my Sensational Soirees clients is that when it comes to celebrations, although we might want to invite all of our family and friends, it’s totally ok to have a small event for a number of reasons. Those who really care about you will still celebrate and support you (in their own way), whether they’re invited or not. This has definitely proven true in our case, and we’re so grateful for all the love and support that surrounds us.

MY FAVORITE THINGS

There were so many things I enjoyed and loved about the shower. First off, the food! Yes, mama is eating for 3 (me and the twins), so good food is high up on my list of loves right now. We enjoyed a brunch buffet that included meatballs, spanakopita, caesar salad, potatoes, chicken and waffles, and shrimp and grits. The twins aunties got to enjoy mimosas while I enjoyed momosas. No soiree is complete without a sweet ending, so we fed our sweet tooth with cake, cupcakes and custom cookies. Now, I regret writing this because I want every single item all over again lol.

I also loved the private room, which was beautiful by itself, and further enhanced with a custom backdrop and balloon garland personalized with The Tyson Twins signage, gorgeous fresh floral centerpieces, a custom welcome sign with balloon decor, and more. A beautiful space always helps to have a beautiful time. To that end, we had such a good time laughing, having girl talk, playing games and celebrating the twins and this new season of motherhood for me. The 3 hours were so enjoyable that it seemed like they flew by.

Two of my most memorable moments from the shower were the laughs from the games. My girls have the best sense of humor plus they are competitive, so the friendly rivalry amongst the groups was hilarious! The other memorable moment was the words of advice, love and support shared from the guests during the toast period. They really touched me, encouraged me, and meant so much! I can’t say enough how grateful I am for the women in my life.

Tip - Good food + good fun + beautiful people + thoughtful details is the perfect recipe for a wonderful celebration.

PARTY OF 6 LOADING

This celebration was the perfect last hurrah before my party of 4 becomes a party of 6. The nursery is 90% done, and I’ll be sure to share it soon. With the help of our village, the majority of the essentials needed for the twins are already here, so we’re just finishing up final tasks over the next few weeks. I’m excited for what this new season of motherhood holds for me, and for our family to welcome these sweet babies!
