The Perfect DC Staycation at Yours Truly DC

A couple months ago, I got the urge to plan a babymoon for my husband and I. We hadn’t done a babymoon when I was pregnant with Cameron and Cassidy (not sure if it was even a thing then), so I jumped at the idea to do one this go around with the twins, as this will likely be our last pregnancy. Not to mention, we both really wanted some quality time alone together before becoming a family of 6. So to celebrate these final weeks of pregnancy, we decided to go the route of a weekend staycation in DC, and it was beyond perfect! Today, I’m sharing all the details along with tips for planning your own DC staycation.

WHERE WE STAYED

We were hosted at the amazing Yours Truly DC hotel located in the West End area of Washington, DC. This was our first time staying at this boutique Dupont Circle hotel, and we loved so many things about it. From the moment we stepped in the hotel it felt like I was in a bohemian paradise. The atmosphere was so inviting and the beautiful ambiance created the getaway vibes we were hoping for.

We stayed in a premium king room, which was so nice. The 320 square foot room with courtyard views featured: a 65" Smart TV, complimentary Wi-Fi, doorless closet and dresser, in-room safe, mini fridge, concrete floors complemented with a vintage boho oriental rug, amenities from Body Eclipse, swanky accent chair and stools, a spa-inspired shower and more. One of my favorite parts of the room was the window nook that I coined my personal “mama lounge”. It’s the perfect spot in the room to enjoy breakfast, read a book or just relax. Needless to say, we absolutely loved the accommodations!

In addition to the eclectic and comfortable accommodations, the property also featured several other awesome amenities. For dining, on-site they have Mercy Me, a South American bar and restaurant, and Call Your Mother, a bagel shop and deli. We went to Mercy Me for happy hour on day one - hubby enjoyed a cocktail, I enjoyed water (for obvious reasons), and we both enjoyed the fried plantains with dipping sauces. Then the following morning, we enjoyed bacon sun city bagels at Call Your Mother for breakfast. We loved having good food options on site for the times we didn’t want to venture out for food.

The property also had plenty of lounge areas, a fitness center, record shop (for music in your room), valet parking, and meeting/event space. Y’all know I love events, so I definitely have the hotel on my radar for a future event for the glow getter gang - stay tuned :) The hotel staff was so nice and helpful, and the hotel in general was the perfect home away from home for us. In short, I highly recommend Yours Truly DC, and can’t wait to stay there again soon.

WHAT WE DID

We intentionally wanted our babymoon staycation to be a mix of fun and relaxation, so we enjoyed both staying in and going out.

  • Day 1 Highlights - We checked in that Friday afternoon and familiarized ourselves with the property, which again, we loved! We got to relax a bit in our room before heading downstairs for happy hour at Mercy Me. Then, we ventured out for an amazing dinner at Mastro’s. We loved the live entertainment and our 3 course dinner. Everything was delicious, but I especially have to highlight the butter cake and filet oscar style, which were amazing.

  • Day 2 Highlights - It’s nothing like sleeping in on a Saturday, and even better when you’re in a nice hotel. After a leisurely morning in our room, we headed downstairs to grab breakfast from Call Your Mother. We decided to continue relaxing after breakfast, which we sometimes simply don’t get to do enough. In the latter part of the afternoon, we decided to venture out for some fun at Swingers indoor mini golf club, and it didn’t disappoint. We had so much, and loved the cool and challenging courses and delicious food! We did the Clocktower course and our favorite menu item was the steak quesadillas. After hanging out there, we decided to spend the rest of the evening at the hotel and ordered in.

  • Day 3 Highlights - Our final day was all about self-care for me, so I enjoyed the day solo while hubby returned to work. I enjoyed my final leisurely morning in the room along with breakfast before checking out. From there, I headed to the Nail Saloon near Eastern Market for a mani and pedi. It was just the thing my swollen hands and feet needed. My next stop was to the spa for the most amazing prenatal massage at Spa on the Hill. This was hands down the best massage I’ve ever gotten, and the whole experience was just amazing and the perfect ending to a wonderful weekend.
