5 Things I love to Do When I Travel to the Islands

Travel was on my vision board this year, and I’m grateful for all the amazing destinations I have been able to visit this year. Of my trips so far this year, island vacations have been the most enjoyable. There's something undeniably magical about the islands – the sun, the sand, the sea, and the vibrant local cultures. From leisurely explorations to savoring the tastiest island bites, each trip is a new opportunity for relaxation and discovery. So, let's kick back and chat about the top five things I genuinely love to do when I travel to the islands.

1. See the Town

Although I spend a good amount of time at the resort, every island has a unique town that's just waiting to be explored. Whether it's where the locals hang or touristy attractions, I enjoy simply wandering through the streets, taking in the vibrant colors and architecture, and seeing the sights. It's the best way to soak up the island's culture and history.

2. Eat & Drink

I’m a foodie, so it doesn’t matter where I’m go…I’ll be trying all the food! Especially some of the places that are top rated. From fresh seafood, to popular dishes unique to the island, and mouthwatering spices – each island offers a tantalizing palette of flavors. And let's not forget about those tropical cocktails! Sipping a margarita or strawberry daiquiri with my toes in the sand is nothing short of paradise.

3. Pool & Beach

When it comes to island getaways, it's all about those beautiful beaches and pools. I absolutely love spending my days lounging by the water, soaking up the sun, and taking a refreshing dip. Whether it's enjoying the swim up bar and poolside entertainment, feeling the waves rush over my feet, or simply gazing out at the endless horizon, the beach and pool are where I can unwind and have a good time.

4. Rest & Relax

Island life is synonymous with taking things slow and embracing a laid-back lifestyle. That's precisely why I carve out time for relaxation on every trip. Whether it's a spa day, taking a nap on a lounge chair, or sleeping in, islands provide the perfect setting for some much-needed self-care. It's a chance to unplug from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and focus on nurturing your well-being.

5. Shop

Exploring local markets and charming boutiques is a must for me when I travel to the islands. I enjoy picking up souvenirs, finding deals, window shopping and bringing home a little something nice for me. Whether it's sunglasses or clothing from a store that’s not in the states, a cigar for my husband, or mementos for my kids, shopping on the islands is like bringing a piece of paradise home with you.

Each island has its own unique charm and activities to offer, and I love discovering some of that with the help of the locals, Google and taking a stroll. What’s next on your travel list? Let me know in the comments.

Have a glowing day!
