Women's HERstory Spotlight - Tomika Charles

Welcome to Day 4 of the Women’s History Month Celebration Circle. Last night’s celebration on Instagram Live was epic, so if you missed it, be sure to catch the replay over on my IGTV. In the meantime, the party continues here on the blog.

Today, I’m spotlighting DC food blogger, Tomika Charles. Fun Fact: Tomika and I grew up in the same church, and she was one of my beloved Sensational Soirees brides. Her wedding still goes down as one of my all-time faves. During the planning process, she didn’t really need my help when it came to the menu and bar selections because she is the ultimate foodie. Learn more about her and her latest venture.

Share with the glow getter gang a little bit about yourself.

I am a true Washingtonian...born and raised in northeast Washington, D.C. I love the one sport I never thought I would become a fan of...hockey #allcaps! I am happily married to my Beloved, the Honey to my Bunny, my Frenchman @troop77! Lastly, I’m a foodie as well as a food photographer and have a food blog that documents my passion and favorite hobby...consuming delicious food and beverages.

As women, we sometimes don't give ourselves enough credit. However, I want you to take a moment to celebrate yourself. Please share one or more of your wins, or something you're proud of or excited about.

I am most proud of starting my own food blog to promote the Metropolitan Area’s eclectic food scene while influencing other foodies like myself to enjoy our “melting pot” of restaurants others may not be aware of through daily pictures and videos!

I love cheering on and celebrating glow getters - women committed to growth, achieving their goals and glowing from the inside out. Please share the names of at least 2 women who you feel embody what it means to be a glow getter and why.

Lauren Papillon (@l.simoneco) — I am so proud of this beautiful and smart young woman for starting her thriving online clothing and jewelry boutique with no assistance. Her light and personality shines bright like a true glow getter!

Keyshonna Norman (@keythediva) and her incredible journey to visit 100 countries embodies the true definition of a glow getter as well as her intellect and phenomenal work ethic.

Jessica Cain (@jreneeservices) was born a glow getter! Building her brand from an idea and passion blew me away and I admire how she flawlessly creates extraordinary ideas in her mind and bring it to life from conception to completion. True glow getter material!

Women's history month is dedicated to celebrating not only women as a whole, but also our contributions that have helped shaped history, society, families and more. With that in mind, share the name of 1 woman you admire and why.

I admire my late grandmother Grace Calloway. She sacrificed herself for family and complete strangers for multiple decades. Her spirit forever lives with me through my acts of kindness to others and the sacrifices I make for my family, loved one and strangers that cross my path.

Show Tomika some love in the comments. Do yourself a favor, and be sure to follow her on Instagram @dcfoodgoddess, which will have you drooling over the deliciousness she shares, plus you’ll learn about the best of the best in the DC dining scene.

Have a glowing day!

Xo,

Shalyce
