Top 10 Family-Friendly Games to Play at Home

Hey glow getters! Looking for some family-friendly fun to spice up your at-home entertainment? Well, you're in luck because I've compiled a list of my family’s 10 favorite games that are sure to bring laughter, bonding, and unforgettable moments to your household. So, gather your fam and let the games begin!

1. Spades

A classic card game that's a favorite in many Black families. While Spades has traditionally been geared towards adults, I think it’s perfect for tweens and teens when you teach them early. My husband and I recently taught our 9-year-old and 12-year-old, and it's been a good (and hilarious) time watching them get the hang of it. It feels like a rite of passage within our family, and now they're keeping up with us. Tip - Instead of letting the kids be partners, partner them with an adult.

2. Speed

Another fast-paced card game that's great for tweens and teens, Speed is a thrilling race against the your opponent to empty your hand. My daughter has become quite the Speed master, and she loves nothing more than giving her parents a run for their money!

3. UNO

A family favorite that needs no introduction, UNO is a must-have for game nights. With its simple rules and endless possibilities, UNO is guaranteed to provide hours of entertainment for the whole family.

4. Monopoly

The classic board game of Monopoly is another one that needs no introduction – a timeless favorite that never fails to bring out our competitive spirits. Whether you're buying properties, building houses, or bankrupting your opponents, Monopoly is a game that's fun, funny and creates great memories.

5. Restaurant

Get creative in the kitchen with a game of Restaurant! We played this when the bigs were much younger, so this is great for ages 3 and up. Have your little ones join you in cooking dinner and role-play as chefs, waiters, and customers. They can even create their own menus for an extra touch of fun.

6. Ready, Set, Go

A fun game we've made up for our toddlers who love to run around the house anyway. Ready, Set, Go is all about racing and celebrating the twins when they are done running. It's a simple yet joyful way to tire them out lol and to bring smiles to their little faces. My baby boy requests to play by saying “Ready” and it’s too cute.

7. Summertime Races

Take Ready, Set, Go outside for some summertime fun! Last year, we had a blast racing with the big kids, although I quickly realized my days of outrunning them are long gone. But hey, at least my babies got now and next!

8. Dance Battle

Show some love for your kids' passions with a Dance Battle! It's a fun way to connect with them and let loose on the dance floor. Plus, you might discover some hidden dance talents along the way!

9. Catch

A classic game of catch is always a hit with the whole family. Whether you're throwing a football, a frisbee, or a good old-fashioned baseball, there's something special about the simple joy of playing catch together.

10. Hide and Seek

A timeless favorite that never gets old, Hide and Seek is perfect for keeping the kids entertained – and maybe even getting the adults involved too! It's a game that's sure to bring out the kid in all of us.
